Chester County School of Watercolor Painting - Slide Show

Chester County and Bucks County are known for their distinct "schools" of watercolor painting. Even though they are both located on the outskirts of Philadelphia--and their histories, topography, and cultures are similar--their style of watercolor painting are noticeably different.
Two of the more prominent watercolor painters in the Chester County style are:
Ashbridge House - Richard Bollinger
Mascot Mill - Richard Bollinger
Windy Day - Peter Sculthorpe
Hill Top Farm - Peter Sculthorpe
The Chester County style tends to be more detailed and more realist. The Bucks County style tends to be more "loose"--where elements often are more "suggested."
These types of scenes can still be seen today in the various counties around Philadelphia, if one knows where to look. Environments like this are the inspiration for some of the settings in the Lost Roads - Doc & Effie Story related writings and visualization products.
