Here is another sample of the Doc & Effie story. Like the other sample, this is a miscellaneous scene that might never make it into the novel series. The main content in the novels will be the ”hard hitting“ content about International Security Issues and the like. The ”relationship“ part is meant to provide relief.
The key thing to know about how Doc and Effie interact, when they are first dating, is that Effie is pursuing Doc and he still isn't sure he likes the idea of dating her. Effie is a strong personality who ”steamrollers“ ahead anyway. Doc ”pays her back“ by acting like an bungling oaf, to her unending annoyance.
On the day of a picnic Doc shows up in a surplus military truck. She is ”aghast“ that she has to ride in such a contraption...but things are just starting to heat up.
